“With new search sources proving more cost-efficient, the improved efficiency of our infrastructure, and the broader market embracing Kagi, we can again offer an unlimited experience to a broader group of users.”

Kagi put unlimited search back into its $10 plan after metering it earlier in the year. The $5 tier drops pay-per-use and caps at 300 searches a month. The reason is in the word “again” and in “new search sources proving more cost-efficient.” A paid search engine lives or dies on what its upstream index providers charge, and Kagi doesn’t say who those sources are.
