Just Eat paid more than $7 billion for Grubhub in 2021. It is walking away with $650 million three years later, a loss of over 90%. The buyer is Wonder, a food hall chain with 28 locations that already owns Blue Apron and now promises a “super app for mealtime.” Grubhub’s restaurants are about to compete for placement inside the app of a company that also cooks.
