Judge orders government to begin refunding more than $130B in tariffs

“Every single cent of IEEPA duties that was imposed must be refunded.”

Judge Richard Eaton at the Court of International Trade ordered the government to start refunding $130 billion in tariffs the Supreme Court already ruled illegal. Over 300,000 importers paid these duties. The Supreme Court struck down the tariffs but conveniently forgot to say whether the money had to come back. Judge Eaton filled in that blank. The administration will appeal because of course they will. But the number is $130 billion and growing, and every day they delay is another day American businesses eat the cost of tariffs that were never legal in the first place.
