“ISO obstructs adoption of standards by paywalling them, making it impractical for millions of hobbyist programmers to access to them and be able to even understand what the standard is.”
ISO publishes the date format every programmer uses and charges money to read it. Most developers learn ISO 8601 from blog posts and Stack Overflow, which means they learn it slightly wrong. A standard behind a paywall gets implemented from rumor. ISO is selling access to rules it wants everyone to follow.
