“What’s more, Element Call is built entirely on Matrix: it doesn’t need any additional servers to get going.”
Element calls it the world’s first decentralised video conferencing app, and you can run it on your own homeserver. The buried line is that end-to-end encryption is switched off for the beta to make bug reports easier. That is the whole reason to pick Matrix over Zoom. Until E2EE ships, this is a self-hosted Jitsi with a better story.
