CFETs stack the nFET and pFET on top of each other, which roughly doubles transistor density. Intel showed one at IEDM in 2020 and is still reporting progress on an inverter, the simplest circuit there is. Samsung and TSMC now have demos too. The industry is still moving from FinFETs to nanosheets, so the next leap is three years old and a decade away.
