“According to security research firm Binarly, the leaked Intel Boot Guard BPM/KM keys impact at least 166 MSI products, with the extent of the damage to other products currently unknown.”
MSI refused a $4 million ransom from Money Message, and 1.5TB of its data started showing up online. Inside were Intel Boot Guard keys for 11th, 12th and 13th generation processors, the keys that decide what firmware a PC trusts before it boots. Neither MSI nor Intel has said a word. At least two partial Boot Guard key leaks happened last year too. The root of trust is now a download.
