“India’s government already operates several data exchanges, but it is unclear how much work remains to make DEPA a reality.”
India wants hospitals, banks and agencies to pipe encrypted data into government exchanges that AI models visit to train, with differential privacy and audit logs on top. The pitch is keeping Big Tech from scraping a billion people for free. Fair enough. But the framework comes with 400 million credit-seekers and a $29 billion EdTech market attached, which tells you who the real audience is. The hard part, the secure enclaves and the enforcement, is the part nobody has built yet.
