Idaho trapped nuisance beavers in the 1930s and dropped them into remote valleys, sometimes by parachute. At Baugh Creek they built dams, flooded meadows, and made a strip the 2018 Sharps Fire couldn’t burn. Now NASA uses satellites to find streams for more of them. The cheapest firebreak in the West works for free and was treated as pest control.
