“A global internet sweep that examined the websites and mobile apps of 642 traders has found that 75,7% of them employed at least one dark pattern, and 66,8% of them employed two or more dark patterns.”
Regulators from 27 agencies in 26 countries spent five days on 642 subscription sellers. Three in four used at least one dark pattern and two in three used several. The usual tricks were auto-renewal you can’t switch off and the plan that pays the seller best pushed to the front. Regulators measured the problem. The release says nothing about penalties.
