“Ibis is still in a very early stage, but it has the potential to completely change the way online encyclopedias work.”
Ibis puts encyclopedia articles on ActivityPub, the protocol behind Mastodon and Lemmy. One developer built the proof of concept in about four months with Rust and PostgreSQL. User profiles, discussions, localization and moderation tools are all missing. An encyclopedia without moderation is a vandalism platform.
