“Each image is actually a mosaic of 25 high-resolution shots snapped by the Solar Orbiter mission on March 22, 2023.”
Solar Orbiter took 100 shots from less than 46 million miles out, repositioning for each one over more than four hours. The finished mosaics put the sun almost 8,000 pixels across. The shots date from March 2023 and only went public 20 months later. The surface runs between 8,132 and 10,832 degrees Fahrenheit, and the camera still resolves its grain.
