“Fandom keeps their copy of the wiki up, even though it no longer has a community.”
About 85% of a wiki’s traffic comes from Google, so the abandoned Fandom copy keeps ranking and keeps serving ads. The RuneScape Wiki clawed back 95% of its traffic only after a year of sustained effort. Leaving Fandom doubles the number of editors on average. Fandom keeps the corpse of the community and bills advertisers for the visitors.
