“A year-long trial in Burkina Faso has shown 77% efficacy, which is by far the record, and which opens the way to potentially relieving a nearly incalculable burden of disease and human suffering.”
The trial had 450 children in one region of Burkina Faso. The 77 percent figure covers one year, and nobody knows yet how long protection lasts. Phase III is next, at five sites. The Serum Institute of India says it can make it at scale, which matters more than the efficacy number.
