Google planned to nuke all goo.gl links, got backlash, and now will only kill the inactive ones. This is what happens when you build critical infrastructure on free Google services. They will shut it down. They always shut things down. The revised policy is marginally less destructive but the lesson remains. Never depend on Google for anything permanent.
