“The company’s total electricity consumption jumped from 31 terawatt hours (TWh) in 2024 to 43 TWh in 2025. This is very easily the biggest increase in their electricity consumption ever.”
Google burned 12 more terawatt-hours in a single year, the biggest jump it has ever posted, and that is roughly the annual electricity use of a small country. This is the AI buildout showing up on the meter. The net-zero pledges and the carbon-neutral press releases do not survive contact with that number. You cannot offset your way out of exponential growth in raw power draw.
