The Steam Deck did the work that two decades of Linux gaming evangelism could not. Valve made Linux gaming a paying market and now everyone else is showing up. GOG was the obvious next entrant because GOG already sells DRM-free, Linux-friendly downloads of older games. The native client is the catch-up. Epic is next or Epic is irrelevant.
