“As the WSJ notes, individuals pay $10 per month for GitHub Copilot, but multiple sources told it that the service loses an average of $20 per user per month, with some users costing Microsoft as much as $80 per month.”
Copilot charges $10 and costs $30 on average to serve, and the heaviest users run $80. Microsoft 365 Copilot will cost $30 per user on top of the existing subscription, and Google’s Duet AI charges the identical add-on. Two rivals landing on the same price is not competition. The cheap tier was the hook, and the enterprise bill is the catch.
