The 10,000 hour rule sold a lot of books and left out the important part. Finishing paintings is performance, not practice. Repeat the same mistakes for 10,000 hours and you have 10,000 hours of bad habits. Real practice is boring drills on one skill with feedback, and that is why nobody does it.
