“The customer has nuclear weapons.”

Bill Longgcc.gnu.org ↗

Cray asked when gfortran would add a missing Fortran 2018 routine. A volunteer asked if anyone had put up a bounty. The answer was that the customer has nuclear weapons and doesn’t do bounties. The maintainers replied that a tiny group does this in spare time. Governments run weapons code on free compilers and won’t pay the people who keep them working.
