“Intuit cannot advertise or market any goods or services as free unless it’s free for all customers, the FTC ordered.”
The FTC sued in 2022 because gig workers and farmers could not use TurboTax’s “free” product. Intuit already paid a 50-state settlement that sent about 4.4 million people checks of roughly $30. Now it calls the commission a “biased and broken system” and is appealing again. Thirty bucks a head is cheaper than an honest ad campaign, and Intuit knows it.
