“France’s data protection agency CNIL is investigating massive data breaches at two companies that manage third-party healthcare payments, warning that more than 33 million people may be affected.”
Two middlemen most French patients have never heard of, Viamedis and Almerys, leaked data on more than 33 million people. The haul includes social security numbers, dates of birth, marital status, insurer names and family members. CNIL only now plans to check whether their security was adequate before the breach. Concentrate half a country’s health payments in two vendors and one attack gets the whole lot.
