“In the interim, customers who are concerned about the vulnerability can simply turn off the WiFi functionality through the SYNC 3 infotainment system’s Settings menu.”

CVE-2023-29468 lets anyone in WiFi range overflow a buffer in the SYNC3 WiFi driver and write to the host processor’s memory. Ford’s fix is a patch you download yourself and load from a USB stick. Until then, turn off the feature you paid for. Ford swears the infotainment system is firewalled from steering and brakes, which is what every carmaker says until a researcher proves otherwise.
