Fly.io raised $25MM from A16Z and then $70MM more led by EQT Ventures. It runs its own hardware in 33 regions and admits the reliability work ahead of it. The pitch is that every CRUD app lives in us-east-1 because going global takes more than two hours to figure out. Owning the hardware makes the margins work. It also makes every outage Fly’s own fault.
