Mapping the brain of a larval fruit fly, the size of a grain of salt, took 12 years and about a day of imaging per neuron. Almost 75% of the best-connected neurons link to its learning center. An adult fruit fly map so far covers 25,000 neurons, and it is still only partial. Anyone promising to upload a human mind should be asked to finish the fly first.
