Figma moved most of its core services from ECS to EKS between Q1 2023 and January 2024. Three separate clusters mean one failure takes out a third of traffic, and weighted DNS made every cutover step reversible. The payoff they list is Karpenter cutting the over-provisioning bill and one Bazel file replacing Terraform plus a deploy. The migration was about the AWS invoice, not the product.
