Juice will spend eight years just getting to Jupiter. It carries 27 m of solar arrays, a 16 m radar antenna and shielding against Jupiter’s radiation. The target is Ganymede, the only moon that makes its own magnetic field. Operators will fly 35 moon flybys on a sliver of sunlight before switching to Ganymede orbit. Eight years of commute buys nine months of the main event.
