“A do-nothing script is a script that encodes the instructions of a slog, encapsulating each step in a function.”
The script automates nothing. It prints a step and waits for you to press Enter. That sounds useless until you notice every step is now a function you can replace with real code one at a time. Ops teams stall on automation because they think it has to be all or nothing. This gets you out of the wiki page and into version control on day one.
