DMM Bitcoin lost 48 billion yen of bitcoin and calls it a leak. The thief split it across 10 wallets in batches of 500 BTC. Customers can’t buy and yen withdrawals are slowed while the parent group scrapes together the replacement coins. It is the second-largest crypto theft in Japan, and the exchange still can’t bring itself to call it one.
