“Users with a standing business relationship with Discord who manage certain partner, verified, or creator servers will be able to pick a username before other users in order to reduce the risk of impersonation for their accounts.”
Discord is killing the four-digit discriminator because over 40 percent of users don’t know theirs and almost half of friend requests miss. The fix is a land rush for unique handles, ordered by signup date, with business partners first in line. Everyone else’s name is up for sniping, and a desirable handle invites threats. Discord turned a private phone number into a public identity and handed the front of the queue to its business partners.
