Diesel averages $6.50 a gallon, up from $3.69 a year ago. Nobody runs a school bus or a combine on gasoline. Food banks, school districts, and farms eat the cost because they have nobody to pass it to. The people at the end of that chain get fewer meals and longer bus rides.
