Regulators want Facebook to fix disinformation and Google to filter every upload. Only giants can afford those mandates, so the mandates lock the giants in. Interoperability works the other way. If you could leave Facebook and still reach your family, Facebook would have to earn you. Apple reverse engineered Office to build iWork. Nobody calls that piracy when Apple does it.
