“A California district court judge on Tuesday ruled that Automattic and its CEO Matt Mullenweg must restore WP Engine’s access to WordPress.org, a theme and plug-in repository owned by Mullenweg.”

The judge ordered everything put back as it was on September 20, including WP Engine’s control of its own ACF plugin, which Automattic had taken over and renamed. The public list of WP Engine customers comes down, and so does the login checkbox that made users swear they had no WP Engine ties. Automattic calls it a status quo order and promises counterclaims. The phrase “a theme and plug-in repository owned by Mullenweg” explains the whole fight.
