“An alliance of 40 countries will sign a pledge during the third annual International Counter-Ransomware Initiative summit in Washington, D.C., to stop paying ransoms demanded by cybercriminal groups.”
Forty countries promise to stop paying ransoms in a month that saw a record 514 ransomware attacks. Forty-eight countries are attending, and not all have confirmed they will sign. The first summit in 2021 vowed to choke off the crypto money too. Two years later the officials are “still in the final throes of getting every last member to sign” a statement.
