“A team from Boston laid out a new theory of consciousness that inextricably ties it to memory.”
Andrew Budson’s team argues the brain decides and acts unconsciously, and consciousness replays it about half a second later as a memory. That would make your sense of choosing a story told after the fact. Even the write-up admits it’s just a theory for now. Interesting, unproven and very easy to oversell.
