“The White House proposed just $3.9 billion for the agency’s Science Mission Directorate for FY26, but the minibus allocates $7.25 billion, just a 1% drop from enacted 2025 levels.”

The White House tried to gut NASA science by 47% and slash the overall budget to $18.8 billion. Congress came back with $24.4 billion, passed the House 397-28 and the Senate 82-15. That kind of bipartisan vote is almost unheard of these days. The Dragonfly mission to Titan, the Roman Space Telescope, and dozens of active missions that were slated for termination all survived. Hard to spin this as anything other than Congress telling the administration to go pound sand on space policy.
