“Caltrain is running its service on 100% renewable energy and is returning nearly a quarter of that energy to the grid,” said Michelle Bouchard, Caltrain Executive Director.
Caltrain’s electric trains return about 23% of their energy to the grid through regenerative braking. The annual power estimate dropped from $19.5 million to $16.5 million. Carbon credits bring back about $6 million a year. These are the agency’s own numbers.
