The Rust bzip2 crate now defaults to a pure Rust implementation. It compresses with 10 to 15% fewer CPU cycles than the C original. An audit found one off-by-one bug. The Dutch government paid for it through NLnet, which is how unglamorous infrastructure gets fixed.
