When he joined in 2014, the Netflix Java stack on EC2 had no working flame graphs and no safe production tracer. He built the JVM changes for mixed-mode flame graphs and pushed eBPF into everyday observability. He also took 18 months as the primary contact for Netflix outages. Half the industry learned performance work from tools he built on Netflix’s payroll.
