“The losses incurred by Boeing thanks to Starliner have comfortably breezed past $1 billion, and will likely surpass $1.6 billion before long.”
Boeing’s SEC filing adds another $125 million to the Starliner reach-forward loss. Almost ten years ago Boeing said it was “on track to fly in 2017.” The first crew launched in June for an eight-day mission and is still docked to the ISS nearly two months later, with a SpaceX capsule among the options to bring them home. Boeing pays for the overruns and the astronauts pay for the delays.
