“While trying to fix my printer today, I discovered that a PDF copy of Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin whitepaper apparently shipped with every copy of macOS since Mojave in 2018.”
The file is simpledoc.pdf, 184 KB, sitting inside a hidden Image Capture device called Virtual Scanner II. Someone inside Apple filed it as an issue nearly a year ago and assigned it to the engineer who put it there, who never touched it. Apple reviews every app in its store and couldn’t review its own test fixtures. Five years of Macs shipped a crypto manifesto as sample paper.
