Bcachefs is out of the mainline kernel. Years of work, merged, then removed. The filesystem promised modern features: checksums, compression, snapshots. But it wasn’t stable enough for mainline. Getting into the kernel is hard. Staying there is harder. Sometimes experiments fail. That’s how development works.
