Epic laid off 16% of its staff, 830 people, and dumped Bandcamp on a music licensing company in the same breath. Bandcamp is profitable. It also unionised in March 2023, and Epic tried to get record labels to lean on the union. Making money wasn’t enough to keep Bandcamp safe, and organising made it easier to sell.
