“Closer inspection of the structure, named the Blinkerwall, revealed about 1,400 smaller stones that appear to have been positioned to connect nearly 300 larger boulders, many of which were too heavy for groups of humans to have moved.”

The Blinkerwall runs 971 metres under 21 metres of water in the Bay of Mecklenburg. Researchers found it by accident on a student trip with a multibeam sonar. Hunter-gatherers likely built it more than 10,000 years ago to funnel reindeer, before the sea took it about 8,500 years ago. The best find in years came from a field trip.
