“Effective February 1, 2024 there will be a charge of $0.005 per IP per hour for all public IPv4 addresses, whether attached to a service or not”
Half a cent an hour is $3.65 a month per address, on every EC2 instance, RDS database, EKS node and VPN tunnel with a public IPv4. AWS says the cost of one address rose more than 300% in five years. The charge also hits addresses attached to running services, which used to be free. Customers already renting Amazon’s servers now pay rent on the address too.
