Apple says 79% of drivers only consider a car if it has CarPlay. The new version wants the whole dashboard, instrument cluster included. Apple promised the first brands in 2023 and named Porsche and Aston Martin two weeks before the year ran out. Carmakers know that whoever owns the screens owns the customer, and they’re in no hurry to hand Apple the keys.
