“In 2022, a quarter of all cobalt found in Apple products came from recycled material, up from 13 percent the previous year.”

Apple went from 13 percent recycled cobalt to 25 percent in a year and now promises 100 percent in under three. The pledge covers “Apple-designed batteries,” which Apple says are only “a significant majority” of its cobalt use. Everything else stays outside the headline. The 2030 carbon neutral goal gets the same treatment: a round number, a press release and a footnote doing the real work.
