“In a blog post and email to Patreon creators about upcoming changes to membership in the iOS app, the company says it’s begun a 16-month-long migration process to move all creators to Apple’s iOS in-app purchase system by November 2025.”
Apple wants its cut of fans paying creators, and it threatened to pull Patreon from the App Store to get it. Creators either raise prices for iPhone fans or eat the fee. Apple adds nothing to that transaction except a toll booth. Even the court-ordered escape hatch, a link to the web, still costs 27%.
