“The FBI violated the Fourth Amendment when its agents rifled through the contents of more than 700 safe-deposit boxes”
The FBI raided U.S. Private Vaults in Beverly Hills in March 2021. The warrant barred a criminal search of the boxes. Agents got “supplemental instructions” to hunt for cash anyway, and nobody told the magistrate the real plan was civil forfeiture. The government took the money first and made innocent owners sue for three years to get a court to say so.
