Amazon puts in up to $4 billion. In return AWS becomes Anthropic’s primary cloud for mission critical workloads, and Anthropic trains on Amazon’s Trainium and Inferentia chips. Anthropic says its governance is unchanged and the Long Term Benefit Trust still steers. Amazon didn’t need a board seat when it already owns the servers.
